The Executive Committee is established under Article XI, Section A of the CCRC By-Laws as a core leadership body to support the Unit Chairman in managing the party's affairs. It operates in harmony with the RPV Party Plan's provisions for unit committees (Article VI), which emphasize efficient governance, cooperation with higher-level committees, and adherence to party principles.
Purpose and Responsibilities
Advisory Role: The committee advises and assists the Unit Chairman in conducting the day-to-day business of the CCRC, including strategic planning, budget oversight, and decision-making on urgent matters between full Unit Committee meetings. Expanded Duties: Beyond the by-laws, it coordinates with standing committees (e.g., Finance and Recruitment) to ensure alignment with RPV goals, such as fundraising for elections (Article III, Section A.3 of CCRC By-Laws) and promoting voter participation. It also reviews appeals or disputes within the committee structure, per RPV rulings and appeals processes (Article X).
Election and Nomination Support: Assists in calling mass meetings, party canvasses, or conventions (Article III, Section A.2), and fills vacancies as needed (Article IX).
Compliance and Governance: Ensures all CCRC activities comply with RPV Party Plan requirements, including quorum rules (40% per Article V of CCRC By-Laws, consistent with RPV Article VII) and removal procedures (Article VI of CCRC By-Laws, mirroring RPV standards).
Membership and Structure
Composed of seven members: Unit Chairman, Vice Chairman, immediate past Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, one elected official, and one additional member-at-large appointed by the Unit Chairman. All members must be qualified voters in Clarke County and in accord with Republican principles (per Article I of both CCRC By-Laws and RPV Party Plan). Meetings are held regularly, with notice provided per Article V, and proxies allowed under Article IV.
How to Get Involved
Membership is determined by election or appointment as outlined in the by-laws. CCRC members can express interest in the at-large position through the Unit Chairman.
