The Candidate Search Committee is a standing committee defined in Article XI, Section B.1 of the CCRC By-Laws, tasked with identifying potential Republican nominees. It aligns with the RPV Party Plan's focus on nominating qualified candidates through fair processes (Article VIII) and ensuring broad participation (Article I). Purpose and Responsibilities
Core Mission: To continuously seek out able candidates for public office, as stated in the by-laws.
Expanded Role: The committee's goal is to search for, educate, and procure high-quality candidates for all electable positions (e.g., local offices like Board of Supervisors, School Board) and appointive roles (e.g., boards and commissions). This includes vetting candidates for alignment with Republican principles, providing training on campaign strategies, and assisting with filing requirements (e.g., petitions per Article III, Section B.4).
Outreach and Education: Conducts interviews, hosts informational sessions, and networks with community leaders to build a pipeline of candidates. It educates prospects on RPV nomination methods (mass meetings, primaries) and ensures diversity in recruitment per Article I's non-discrimination clause.
Nomination Support: Recommends candidates to the Unit Committee for endorsement in cases where no nominee emerges (Article VIII), and fills vacancies per Article IX.
